August 20th, Thursday – Native Pollinator 101: “Have you ever wondered about our native pollinators? Who they are? How they live? What we can do to support them?
Join NGM at the garden to learn about native pollinators and what we can do to make our gardens more pollinator-friendly.
During the workshop, we’ll gain knowledge about our many native pollinators AND we will make some native plant seed balls to take home! We’ll follow the beginner pollinator workshop by planting native plants to make the community garden a more colourful and pollinator-friendly space.
Let’s grow a food system that benefits our communities AND one that is in harmony with the land.”

August 21st, Saturday – Arts, Storytelling & Public Imagination: “A creative development session focused on turning reflections into public-facing art, writing and storytelling. This session will include a story-circle panel (with Renee Williams with Edmonton Arts Council, Suvi Sharma (Silver’s Wind), Shiza Wasi with Public Interest Alberta, Nikki Hulowski with the Actors Toolbox Film Program, Mayowa Ajibodu (The Live Initiative), Danni Okemaw (Faculty of Native Studies, U of A and Co-founder, Nimihitotan) and Kennedy Daniels Peterson, Founder of Albertan Parents Protecting Public Learning and Education). Protecting lakes, rivers, and watersheds means protecting the communities, wildlife, and future generations that depend on them.
On Saturday, August 22, the Alberta Legislature Grounds will host a women and indigenous led protest and rally bringing together Elders, Knowledge Keepers, youth, environmental advocates, artists, scientists, and community members to share stories, teachings, lived experiences, and calls to action for protecting water.”

She is known for her ability to translate complex climate issues into accessible public discourse.”
