July 19th, Sunday – Assembly-Based Movements to Overcome Fascism: “We all sense things are coming to a head. Time is short.
In that spirit of urgency, a group of organisations are coming together to hold an international call on how we need to organise and mobilise in the coming years. The far right is gaining ground and is poised to seize state power as social and economic tensions intensify. Next year, global temperatures will most likely reach 1.7°C. Big tech and AI will create millions of job losses. War and geopolitical pressure will spread. Our working communities are going to come under ever greater strain.”

July 22nd, Wednesday – Musicians for Canada: A Benefit Concert for Canadian Unity: “A number of Alberta’s finest musicians and members of the music community are coming together at the Heritage Amphitheatre in Hawrelak Park, in Edmonton’s beautiful river valley, on Wednesday July 22, 2026 to voice their collective appreciation for their country. Voicing commitment to Canada through a day of exceptional music was the idea of P.J. Perry, one of Canada’s greatest jazz musicians who was born in Calgary and who has made his home in Edmonton for a number of decades.”

Join The Cherry Pit for Disability Pride Night! Enjoy performances, visual art, spoken word, and more created by 7 disabled young artists excited to share disabled joy, creativity, struggle, and the fight for liberation. ❤️

July 23rd, Thursday – Common Horizon Welcoming Call: “Sign up here to get involved with Common Horizon, a movement of Gen Z and Millennial workers fighting for back against corporate greed.
Common Horizon is a cross-Canada social movement that is organizing Gen Z and Millennial workers to take power away from the billionaire class and win solutions to the climate crisis and affordability crisis. We are a fun and accessible place, open to anyone from experienced organizers to folks trying out political organizing for the first time. Common Horizon has 6 chapters and counting across Canada, and we’re organizing to put pressure on our politicians and spark the public imagination to believe in a future with good green jobs, affordable rent and groceries, and properly funded public services like transit, healthcare, and recreation. July 26th, SUNday – Solar Fest Day: “Come and celebrate the sun and how we can use solar energy to help offset the damage caused by our dependency on fossil fuels.
Some of the many things happening during our solar fest will be:
++ Solar haircuts by Mark from True Blue Barber. Donations for haircuts will be made to an NGO. (Powered by the sun via Solar Super Store)
++ Pizza box ovens making and display (unfortunately, James is not able to be on hand to lead this since he will be playing with his band at the Calgary Folk Music Festival that day). This is a family friendly activity. Pizza boxes will be donated by Spinelli’s/Italian Centre, and supplies will be donated by James.
++ Display of solar cookers.
++ Cookies cooked in the solar cooker
++ Solar panel and equipment by the Solar Super Store

July 27th, Monday – Climate Cafe: “As seniors concerned about the world our descendants will inherit, we want to talk about it with others. Join us for this conversation. Bring your thoughts, fears, hopes, frustration, etc and discuss it in this safe space with your peers.
The Climate Café is a supportive space where people can share and discuss their worries about the climate and ecological crisis.
