June 19th, Friday – Juneteenth: “Today, June 19, is #Juneteenth honouring the legacy of Black power and liberation movements. We must end systemic racism and injustice that remains embedded in our colonial structures and institutions to this day—NONE OF US ARE FREE, UNTIL WE’RE ALL FREE.”

June 19th, Friday – National Indigenous Peoples Day (NIPD): “Bissell Centre event features art, performances, stew and bannock from Bissell Harvest Catering.
The headline performers at this year’s NIPD celebration are Adrian LaChance and the Running Thunder Dancers, taking place from noon to 2:00 p.m. Their performances will include traditional drumming, singing, and dancing — including a round dance as a memorial for all the loved ones in the community we have lost over the years.”

June 20th, Saturday – Women in Black Vigil for Non-Violence: Women in Black formed in 1988 and since then has expanded to 100,000 women worldwide. Women in Black Edmonton formed in 2003. Our silent vigils remind us of the power of nonviolence in a world where violence can destroy lives in our homes, streets, and regions. Please join us.
This is a bi-weekly event on the first and third Saturday of the month.

June 20th, Saturday – Indigenous Peoples Festival: “Celebrate your Indigeniety or come as an ally to Borden Park for this cultural celebration hosted by the Canadian Native Friendship Centre.
Whether you want to hear about Indigenous, Metis and Inuit teachings and storytelling or listen to the live performances, this event is always a great place to be!”

June 20th, Saturday – Rossdale Walk and Gathering: “Gerald Delorme, of the Edmonton Stragglers band, will be talking about the history of this area as a sacred site and the legal obligations to protect it. We will walk from here to the area north of the baseball field to see the land the City is trying to sell as phase 1 of its development plans, and then walk back to the park area north of the memorial site for an information-sharing and learning circle.
Please join us to share what you know, and to learn what others know about this special place. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on, sunhat or umbrella depending on the weather, and water. All are welcome.”

June 21st, Sunday – National Indigenous Peoples Day: “National Indigenous Peoples Day takes place on the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. For generations, many First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities have celebrated their cultures, languages, and traditions at this time of year. The summer solstice holds deep spiritual and cultural significance for many Indigenous Peoples, marking a time of renewal, connection, and celebration.”

June 25th, Thursday – National Day of Action: “Join your neighbours on June 25th at 12:00PM outside the office of Edmonton-Centre MP Eleanor Olszewski to deliver an MOU from the people!
The Canadian government has been prioritizing the profits of oil and gas companies over the safety of our communities, the survival of our wildlife, and the future of our planet.

June 26th, Friday – Critical Mass: “Critical Mass returns on the last Friday of Bike Month.

June 26 – June 28th – Justice4Reel Film Festival 2026: “Justice4Reel is a three-day curated public film and arts festival in Edmonton.
Designed to bridge the gap between abstract human rights and our lived local realities in the heart of Alberta, this three-day journey fosters reflection, shared dialogue, and coordinated civic action.
By using documentary film as a catalyst, Justice4Reel moves beyond interpersonal perspectives to examine the structural challenges shaping our province. It serves as a civic laboratory where the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms is transformed from a legal document into a tangible tool for community dignity and accountability.
