Waste Free Edmonton is hosting our 4th Sustainability Social. Let’s connect and reduce our footprint together. May 15th, Friday – SCAN at Kerry Diotte’s Office: SCAN (Seniors for Climate Action Now), will be delivering demands to MP Kerry Diotte’s.

May 16th, Saturday – Women in Black Vigil for Non-Violence: Women in Black formed in 1988 and since then has expanded to 100,000 women worldwide. Women in Black Edmonton formed in 2003. Our silent vigils remind us of the power of nonviolence in a world where violence can destroy lives in our homes, streets, and regions. Please join us.
This is a bi-weekly event on the first and third Saturday of the month.

May 17th, Sunday – International Day Against Homophobia Biphobia Transphobia (IDAHOBIT): This year’s theme is “At the heart of democracy”. This year’s global theme is a reminder that truly democratic societies must be grounded in justice and freedom for everyone. As we have seen in Alberta, The UCP government has launched an attack on the people in the Trans community.

May 23rd, Saturday – Bake for Palestine: Fundraiser for Palestine.
Baked goods would need to be dropped off there day-of 12-2 or at an organizer’s house in the Alberta Ave/McCauley neighbourhood 6 – 9 PM Friday, May 22nd.
This Friday is the deadline to sign up to bake for a fundraiser for YEG for Gaza. This time around items can be sweet or savory.

May 29th, Friday – Fight Back Now: Day of Protest: “The Smith government is exceeding its mandate on every front.”
At 11:15am gather in Centennial Plaza south of the downtown Stanley Milner Library 9924 101A Ave NW. At 11:30am, we’ll march to join 600 healthcare workers rallying east of the Edmonton Convention Centre. Rally will be over at 1:00 p.m.
Please wear yellow and consider bringing a sign and noisemaker.

Our focus is a critical shift: From 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 to 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴. The day will frame what we learned from the project and identify what must change to tackle food insecurity, waste, and systemic gaps in Edmonton.”
