April 30th to May 1st – City of Edmonton Budget Survey: The City of Edmonton is asking us to give them feedback on their 2027 – 2030 budget cycle. The Edmonton Police Service wants the largest piece of our money.
The questions in the survey are limited in scope and biased but there is potential to positively affect and have the administration and councillors hear our concerns.
I do appreciate that the city has made the survey available in several languages. This is what inclusivity means.

April 30th, Thursday – “Oil is Costing Us TOO Much”: “It’s costing us at the gas pumps, in our utility bills, and through rising food prices at the grocery store.
With the global price of oil skyrocketing due to the US and Israel’s illegal war on Iran, Canadian fossil fuel companies are taking our cost of living crisis to the bank – raking in tens of billions of dollars that they didn’t earn and that they don’t deserve.
And that’s just the beginning.
Subsidies to the oil and gas sector continue to rob our public purse, and fossil-fueled climate chaos burdens our communities and endangers our future.
We can’t continue to let Big Oil make billions while the rest of us suffer. And we can’t remain dependent on this toxic and unjust industry. Now is the time to fix it.“

May 5th, Tuesday – Organizing the Arts: Inside the Scotiabank/Elbit Divestment Campaign: “In February 2026, Scotiabank—once the largest foreign investor in Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer, Elbit Systems—divested the last of its $500M stake. How did it happen, and what can organizers against Israeli apartheid around the world learn from it?
On May 5th, join a conversation between Syed Hussan of Migrant Workers Alliance for Change and Palestine Solidarity Network, and No Arms in the Arts organizers Jody Chan, Michael DeForge, and Aliya Pabani, to go deep on how this campaign was built.
We’ll discuss how having a clear material goal shaped tactical choices; why Scotiabank proved an effective target and how the arts calendar provided a built-in arc of escalation; how artists exercised collective power by understanding themselves as workers with cultural capital to withhold; and what makes the western cultural sector a potent site of struggle in the material fight against Israeli occupation and towards a free Palestine.
Against Israel’s ongoing genocidal war on Gaza, across Palestine, and encroaching into Lebanon and Iran, this session will also take stock of the struggle ahead. Join us as we draw out lessons applicable to divestment organizing across sectors.
Schedule: 60 min conversation, followed by 30 min Q&A”
Time: 5pm MT
Location: Virtual

May 12th, Tuesday – Toxic Trivia: We’ll provide the snacks. You help us bust Big Oil’s propaganda – one trivia question at a time!
The climate crisis keeps getting worse, but fossil fuel billionaires and their political allies are trying to persuade Canadians to ignore the wildfires and floods, and support new pipelines. But we know that ever-expanding oil and gas extraction only offers short term profits for the powerful few while unleashing death, destruction, and precarity for the many.
Climate Justice Edmonton (CJE) and Earth’s Refillery Coop (ERC) are hosting this Toxic Trivia party to expose Big Oil’s propaganda, and have some fun while doing it! Featuring free food, exciting prizes, and the chance to connect with other community members who care about climate action.
This event was made possible with support from 350.org and Small Change Fund.
