April 16th to May 1st – City of Edmonton Budget Survey: The City of Edmonton is asking us to give them feedback on their 2027 – 2030 budget cycle. The Edmonton Police Service wants the largest piece of our money.
The questions in the survey are limited in scope and biased but there is potential to positively affect and have the administration and councillors hear our concerns.
I do appreciate that the city has made the survey available in several languages. This is what inclusivity means.

April 17th, Friday – Housing is a Human Right: “Join us in person to discuss how to fight for housing justice in Edmonton!
Hundreds of Edmontonians become homeless and die on our streets every year. This is not a personal failure, but a systemic one. Our political leaders cater to corporate landlords and dismantle public housing, allowing rampant rent hikes and evictions to drive record homelessness. These actions are flagrant violations of international law, yet they are the norm in our city. It does not have to be this way; Edmonton has more than enough money—and homes—to provide for all of its residents. In the midst of several global crises—unaffordability, war, climate disaster—we are all at risk of losing our homes. Now is the time to fight for housing to be a human right.”

April 17th, Friday – All Out for our Political Prisoners: “In response to @wizard_bisan1 ‘s call for global action, we will be taking to the streets in opposition of the legalization of the execution of Palestinian political prisoners (i.e. Hostages).
It is this same police force that’ll be enforcing these brutal measures that the Chief of EPS travelled to “learn” from. When confronted by our community, he stated he has “nothing to apologize for.”
Our rage is justified.
Justice and due process is non-existent in apartheid “Israel.” And we do not have the luxury to feel separate from the issue — not when our leaders actively engage and learn from these war criminals.
Bring your signs, bring your friends, bring your flags and take a stand.
NOTE: EPS has begun using AI facial surveillance technology that the IDF has employed on Palestinians for years. With that in mind, consider masking up for your own safety.

April 17th, Friday – Canada’s Invisible Children: Film Screening: The Solutions Not Scapegoats Coalition would like to invite you to a film screening and discussion on migrant rights.
The Alberta Government’s proposed October referendum blames migrants for problems they did not create. This event will bring people together to reflect on how migrants are being scapegoated and how we can organize for real solutions, not scapegoats. The evening will begin with a screening of Canada’s Invisible Children, a film that highlights the realities faced by undocumented children and families in Alberta and demonstrates that attacks on migrant rights are already underway.

April 18th, Saturday – Women in Black Vigil for Non-Violence: Women in Black formed in 1988 and since then has expanded to 100,000 women worldwide. Women in Black Edmonton formed in 2003. Our silent vigils remind us of the power of nonviolence in a world where violence can destroy lives in our homes, streets, and regions. Please join us.
This is a bi-weekly event on the first and third Saturday of the month.

April 18th, Saturday – Our Voices Matter: A solidarity rally with the people in Nova Scotia.

April 18th, Saturday – We Will Rebuild – Gaza Education Fundraiser: CEPAL Edmonton (Canadian Palestinian Education Exchange) is pleased to announce our major 2026 fundraiser. In 2025, we funded 2 students’ continued education through the generosity of Edmontonians.  We’ve set our goals higher for 2026! We invite you to come out, hear from the program director and several of the students in Malaysia, and learn about CEPAL’s Higher Education Access for Palestine program.The evening will also feature music by world – renowned Munshed, Khaled Mowed.

April 26th, Sunday – Earth Day in Edmonton: Come on down to the piazza to celebrate Earth Day 2026! We are having an Earth Day Block Party.
There will be music, booths/tables/tents with non-profits and eco-marketers, workshops, and fun!
We are planning for perfect weather, but we can’t count on that. The workshops will be held inside.
It will be in the shared plaza in front of Earth’s Refillery Coop & Cafe, Paper Birch Books, and True Blue Barber Shop (referred to as the piazza).

April 26th, Sunday – A Vested Interest Fashion Show: an art project: a light-hearted presentation on a what can be an overwhelming topic – climate change; creative, quirky and sometimes humorous; full of stories people can identify with and maybe from there be willing to take an action.
Ellen, the artist who makes the vests, says we all need hope and we have to have hope to have optimism and reminds us that men have enjoyed the show!

April 29th, Wednesday – Women in Conflict Zones: “Retired U.S. Army Reserve Colonel Ann Wright will open the webinar with the latest update on U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) military activities across the SWANA/Middle East region. Speakers from the impacted countries will describe the trauma that women and children face as victims of war.”
