February 13th, Friday – Winter Bike to Work Day 2026: “Join us for refreshments and treats, and if you’ve never biked in the winter before, this is your nudge to give it a try! 🚲❄️
Get ready to pedal through the snow and conquer Winter Bike to Work Day with a hot cup of coffee waiting for you along the way!
Winter Bike to Work Day is a celebration of people who bike in Edmonton — even in winter! On Friday, February 13,during your commute (see times and locations below), five elected councillors who represent downtown-adjacent wards will host pop-up pit stops along key winter bike routes. These spots will offer warm drinks, local treats, friendly faces, and real encouragement for winter commuting.
Whether you bike every day, sometimes, or are curious about winter biking — this is a chance to connect with neighbours, talk with your local councillor, and celebrate winter riders in our city.
This event isn’t a formal rally or march — it’s low-key, cheerful, and about doing what many Edmontonians already do every snow day: ride your bike to work.”
What to expect

February 17th, Tuesday – National Day of Action to Close the Loopholes NOW: Join us for an all-day rally next Tuesday to demand the closure of the U.S. Arms loophole! Come by whenever you can, and stay for as long as you can.

We are gathering as part of the Arms Embargo National Day of Action to demand an end to Canada’s complicity in genocide, war crimes, and militarized terror the U.S. and its allies are perpetrating worldwide.
Currently, a diplomatic loophole allows billions of dollars in Canadian military goods to be sent to the U.S. with no permits, no tracking, and no human rights review. These parts go on to become bombs and fighter jets used in Israel’s genocide in Gaza. More recently, Canadian complicity has been tracked to armoured ICE vehicles in Minnesota, as well as weapons used to attack Venezuela.
Let Liberal MP Eleanor Olszewski know that Edmonton demands she vote YES on Bill C-233: the No More Loopholes Act!

February 17th, Tuesday – Thoughtful Tuesday: The Invisible Doctrine: Thoughtful Tuesday is a free weekly series of screenings being held at Earth’s Refillery Coop.
“An extraordinary kinetically charged visually stunning documentary savagely deconstructing neoliberalism.
Asking the question: “Neoliberalism: do you know what it is?” – Monbiot deconstructs the roots, secretive propagation and deep impact of a doctrine that has played a profound role in transforming our economics, politics, environment, and even how we’ve come to view ourselves – emphasizing competition as the defining characteristic of human relations, and converting us from citizens to consumers in the process. Thanks to neoliberalism, we find ourselves more atomized and lonely than ever.
Yet few of us fully understand – let alone can begin to articulate – what neoliberalism actually IS.”
The format is that people are invited to attend these free screenigns which will start at 6:30pm. The cafe will be open if you would like to grab a beverage, treat or a meal.
After the screening, we will discuss what we watched, how it affected you, and what might you do with the information and emotions you gained about this subject.

  1. Thanks for sharing the event tomorrow, Michael!

I’ve been thinking that, depending on weather, the Coalition might want to run Critical Mass rides from May-Oct. Do you have any thoughts or desire to be involved?

    1. Maybe, it depends. I just got out of the hospital today. Yesterday I had a bit of a heart operation so things have changed a bit for me moving forward. I will of course promote what ever event happens.

  2. Hi Michael, or whoever is managing the Thoughtful Tuesday events,I think the event needs updating

    1. What needs updating? It is on February 17th.

I must be missing something – that is common. I appreciate you noticing and mentioning errors or misinformation.

      1. When I went to register yesterday, Eventbrite said Event Ended. Therefore there was no opportunity to ‘buy’ tickets. I checked just now and Feb 17th has been added, but it says Sales ended. Is this right? Or do I assume that we have tickets because we were signed up for last Tuesday? Confused. Carla

      2. Sorry about that. When I moved the dates the online ticket window did not update automatically. Whoops.
