October 11th, Saturday – March to EPCOR: “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. ITS TIME TO DISRUPT. ITS TIME TO SHOUT. ITS TIME TO STOP THE WORLD FOR PALESTINE.
Two years and 77 years of occupation. Two years and 77 years of ethnic cleansing. Two years and 77 years of apartheid. Two years and 77 years of genocide.
There is no business as usual. Companies, governments, and institutions that dare to be complicit in “Israel’s” crimes deserve no peace. And we won’t give them any!
EPCOR is forced upon us as the only water supplier in our city. They weaponize this fact to force us into accepting water meters from a company that is deeply complicit in the genocide and occupation of Palestinian land. Refusal to accept this forced complicity is now apparently a punishable offence.  @cityofedmonton has passed a bylaw forcing its citizens to pay nearly $50/month if they refuse the change.
To our current politicians: we will not accept this forced complicity and we will shut down the city time and time until this is changed.
To our future politicians: pledge to force EPCOR to drop this bloodstained company and remove this bylaw if you want our votes.

October 12th, Sunday Cranksgiving Ride, A Tribute to Dr Darren Markland: This Thanksgiving weekend, we invite you to join us for a special Cranksgiving Ride (Thanksgiving + Bike Cranks = Cranksgiving) in memory of Dr. Darren Markland — a beloved ICU physician, cyclist, community builder, and founder of Coffee Outside.
Darren touched countless lives through his work in health care and his passion for cycling. From mountain bike races to Friday morning coffee meetups, he brought people together, creating connections that will carry on long after him. This ride is both a celebration of his life and a chance for us to come together as a community to ride, remember, and give thanks.
Time: Meet at 11am, we will leave by 11:30. Allow 1.5-2 hours.
Location: Meet at Coronation Park near TWOSE, ending at Ezio Farone Park.

October 17th, Friday – Break the Butchers, For Gaza We Rise: TAKE ACTION AGAINST THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS🔥 OCT 17 @ 10 AM | UNIVERSITY COMMONS 🇵🇸 STUDENTS & FACULTY MUST DISRUPT BUSINESS AS USUAL
While our tuition rates increase every year and more students face housing and food insecurity, the University of Alberta Board of Butchers invests in the infrastructure of genocide in Palestine through millions in investments into companies like Magellan and Rolls Royce, both of whom manufacture parts of tanks and fighter jets used to murder Palestinians in Gaza; as well as Booking Group, who lists illegal settlements and stolen homes in the West Bank as vacation rentals.
The Board of Butchers implicates the entire U of A community in this genocide through their investments and actions. But make no mistake: they have no power without us.
Join us on October 17th at 10 am, outside University Commons on campus, during the next Board of Governors meeting. Rally with us to show that we will not rest until our demands are heard: divestment from genocide and action against settler colonialism, from Treaty 6 to Palestine.

October 17th, Friday – Divest Our Pensions from Geneocide: War is big business. Pensions invest where they can make a good return for their members. But at what cost of morality and humanity. People are demanding that their pensions shold not have investments that are supporting the genocide and apartheid happening in Gaza. (Yes, there is a very recent ceasefire in place).

October 18th, Saturday – No Kings Day/No Tyrants Day: “On October 18, millions of us are rising again to show the world: America has no kings, and the power belongs to the people.”

October 18th, Saturday – Women in Black Vigil for Non-Violence: Women in Black formed in 1988 and since then has expanded to 100,000 women worldwide. Women in Black Edmonton formed in 2003. Our silent vigils remind us of the power of nonviolence in a world where violence can destroy lives in our homes, streets, and regions. Please join us.
This is a bi-weekly event on the first and third Saturday of the month Stand in solidarity!

On Thursday, Oct 30 • 12–2 pm • Alberta Legislature (Edmonton) we’re gathering to say no to forced transfers off AISH and no to deeper poverty. This rally is organised by the People’s Alliance for Disabled Albertans (PADA)—disabled people, families, and allies
Why we’re showing up:
Gov’t plan would move most people on AISH to ADAP with a $200 lower base rate,
Reclassification without real choice = greater risk of poverty and harm.
We demand equitable access, income security, and dignity.”
