There is no ‘away’ place. This is a river in Guatemala.
Beverage and ‘food’ companies push out their products but the packaging is someone else’s problem.
In many countries, they do not have the resources to deal with this problem.

April 20th, Saturday – Climate Justice Signage Display: I will erect these signs beside the bus stop on Gateway and 83rd Avenue. This is a static display since I normally go over and stand with a group of people doing Ceasefire Now activism in front of the market (see event above). On April 6th, someone tore the banner in half and I have not repaired it yet. I plan on erecting other signs in its place.
Why do I have UCP on this sign? Well, they form the present government in Alberta and like all previous Alberta governments (including the NDP) have pushed the fossil fuel agenda to the detriment of the planet while knowing what impacts their actions would have on people and planet.
Time: 11 am
LocationGrass area on the NE corner of 83rd avenue and Gateway (104th Street)
FacebookEdmonton Climate Strike

April 20th, Saturday – Neighbouring for Climate: “The best climate action is community climate action. Find out how to bring people together for the planet with the City of Edmonton’s Neighbouring for Climate program.”
You can see a past recording of their first webinar (I missed it since I was busy elsewhere. See this YouTube video.
[I am unsure that I agree with the assertion that it is the best. Big decisions and actions by government and changes by industry have major effects (negatively and positively). Of course individual actions have an impact but we can only achieve so much.]

And now, before our eyes, we see another genocide unfolding in real time in Gaza. What are you going to do?

May 12th, Monday – The First Annual “Steal from Loblaws” Day: Disclaimer: we are not advocating that people steal from this or any other business.
This corporation is one of the major causes of inflation in Canada and been making obscene profits over the past 4 years.
This is posted so that people can see what other places are doing to express their anger and frustration.
Here is a fun video about the Steal from Loblaws Day

May 25th, Saturday – 5th Global Mothers Rebellion: “The climate crisis is not slowing down and temperatures are rising all over the planer. Mothers Rebellion is busy planning our fifth global action which will be held on the 25th of May, marking Africa Day. On this day we will amplify the voices of our sisters in Africa.”
“The mothers of the world won’t look away, they refuse to give up, and they will do everything they can to get climate justice for their children.
That was the message delivered by rebel mothers in 62 cities across 20 countries the day before much of the world celebrated Mother’s Day. They sat in outward-facing circles in public spaces, holding signs with the names of their children, and were joined by grandmothers, aunties, nieces, sisters, children, and other allies.
Each circle was different—some quiet and contemplative, some including dance and song, others holding climate story-times for children or pram parades!”
I am unaware if anything is yet planned here in Edmonton. I encourage people to set things in motion to show solidarity and raise awareness. Here is a link to help guide you through the process.

May 25th, Saturday – Enough Is Enough UCP: “We’re here to unite concerned citizens of Alberta in a movement against the current government, the United Conservative Party (UCP), because Enough is Enough.
We believe the UCP has let us down across various fronts, failing to prioritize the needs of everyday Albertans. Whether it’s healthcare, electricity pricing, forest management, climate change, education, housing, the cost of living, renewables, or any other issue affecting our province, we share a common frustration: our government isn’t working for us.
It’s time for change. It’s time for a government that truly represents the interests of all Albertans, present, and future. Join us as we mobilize and demand accountability. This is democracy in action.
Enough is Enough! Together, let’s make our voices heard and build a better future for Alberta.
This event will be part of a province-wide day of action.
Time: 2 pm – 4 pm
Location: Violet King Henry Plaza, 10801 – 99th Avenue

    1. I just grabbed the image on Social Media. There was a much nicer one I saw last year but forgot to grab it.

It looks like someone just made it themselves and probably laminated it.

Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful
