January 23rd, Friday – Zine Night “Artificial Intelligence & the environment”: Edmonton Youth for Climate is hosting a zine night and invites you to join them for a hands-on experience.

January 23, 24, 26-29th – The Voice of Hind Rajab: “Red Crescent volunteers receive an emergency call. A 6-year old girl is trapped in a car under IDF fire in Gaza, pleading for rescue. While trying to keep her on the line, they do everything they can to get an ambulance to her.”

January 24th, Saturday – S.A.F.E Team Craft and Vegan Bake Sale Fundraiser: Join SAFE (Save Animals From Euthanasia) at Earth’s Refillery Coop & Cafe and pick up some yummy vegan baking and kitty themed crafts, learn about SAFE’s adoptable kitties and the work they do.
Time: 11am to 2 pm

January 24th, Saturday – Education on Venezuela: The Edmonton Peace Council will be hosting an educational to give an anti-imperialist perspective on Venezuela. We invite everyone to join us and learn more about Canada’s role in the historic and ongoing attacks against Venezuelan sovereignty through means of both economic and direct warfare, and why this topic matters to us here in Canada.
Time: 4pm

January 24th, Saturday – Community First Aid 101 (Cold Weather): “People who are living outside are especially vulnerable to cold weather, but anyone (housed or unhoused) can get frostbite, hypothermia, etc. or need overdose response. How can we offer to help in respectful ways, and what can we do? This workshop will be intro level; you don’t need any previous experience with first aid or medical training.”
Masking is strongly encouraged. N95 masks will be available for people.

January 25, Sunday – Edmonton Chapter of the Council of Canadians AGM: “Attend our Annual General Meeting and celebratory gathering. Hear short reports on our Chapter Activities and Campaigns in 2025 and help us clarify and define our goals and objectives for 2026 and beyond.”
Time: 2pm to 5 pm

January 28th, Wednesday – Doomscroller’s Anonymous: A Support Group for the Chronically Concerned: a casual evening where we’ll trade our screens for snacks and small acts of change.
What we will do:
++Crafting buttons and stickers
++Writing letters to our representatives
++Chatting about what actually gives us hope
No activism experience required, just bring your worries, your sense of humour, and a desire to do something that matters.
Let’s scroll a little less, connect a little more, and turn our concern into action.

January 28th, Wednesday – Envisioning a Well-being Economy for Alberta: “What do we mean by a well-being economy? What solutions does it offer to help us address the interconnected social, political, economic and ecological challenges we face? Are there positive examples we can look to and learn from to fit the Alberta context? This 1-hour webinar will explore the concept of a well-being economy, provide examples of how it is being adopted in various jurisdictions, and offer some suggestions for how we can work together to advance a well-being economy in Alberta and Canada that puts people and the planet first. We will also hold space for questions, discussion and brainstorming amongst webinar participants regarding how this concept can be advanced domestically.

February 17 to April 7 – The Changing Climate: A Canadian Perspective: “an eight-week climate course designed to get participants up-to-date on the latest climate science.
To sign up, a small registration fee of $25 is required.
The course is led by Dr. Martin Bush, Ph.D., a climate researcher and active member of SCAN!. Dr. Bush and CALL have been refining the course over the past year, and it’s already been extremely well-received by Lifelong Learning Mississauga.
