January 20th, Tuesday – All out for Avi!: “Friends in Edmonton! Join Avi Lewis and speakers for a conversation about our future.
Life in Canada feels like it’s on the edge. People are working harder than ever, yet the basics — food, rent, childcare, medicine — are out of reach while a handful of corporations rake in record profits. Avi’s campaign for leader is about refusing this rotten deal. It’s about uniting movements — for climate justice, Indigenous rights, migrant justice, economic justice, and peace.
It’s about demanding a future where government actually governs for the many, not the money. Come hear how we are organizing to win for workers while bringing thousands of new members into our movement.”
Why is this on the AA? Avi and his team are very strong on the climate front. He also speaks well about the situation in Gaza and Palestine.
Time: 6-8pm
Location: Westbury Theatre, 10330 84 Avenue
Register: Lewis for Leader

January 21st, Wednesday – NDP Leadership Debate on Palestine: “As NDP members prepare to vote for the party’s next leader, join us for a debate on Palestine with the 2026 NDP leadership contestants.
For the past two years, the Palestine movement has worked to hold Canada’s political establishment to account. As the NDP increasingly carries advocacy work into Parliament, this debate will bring forward the key priorities of pro-Palestine voices — centering the conversation on Palestine and putting prospective party leaders on the record.
CJPME President Yara Shoufani will moderate the debate. The confirmed participants include*:

  • Tanille Johnston
  • Avi Lewis
  • Heather McPherson
  • Tony McQuail

*Participant list may change.”
