Participate by not participating.

November 14th and 15th – The Palestine Tribunal on Canadian Responsibility: “The purpose of the event is to document how Canadian organizations enable the settler colonization and genocide of Palestinians, and to articulate what justice and reparations would require. The Tribunal is taking place from November 14-15 in Ottawa, and will also be live-streamed.”
Location Ottawa but also live streamed
Register: Palestine Tribunal on Canadian Responsibility

November 15th, Saturday – COP30 Global Day of Action: “Social and environmental movements from around the world today launched a call to action for a Global Day of Action on 15 November 2025, coinciding with the United Nations COP30 climate negotiations. As part of the Peoples’ Summit, thousands are expected to take to the streets of Belém, Brazil, demanding climate justice and system change.
The call urges movements, organisations and peoples everywhere to organise their own marches and actions locally in solidarity, uniting struggles across borders in the fight against inequality, environmental racism and corporate impunity.
“From the Amazon to the world, we are saying enough is enough. November 15th is not just about marching in Belém. It is about showing that people everywhere are rising together. The Global Day of Action will demonstrate that climate justice is inseparable from justice for peoples, territories and future generations.”
I am unsure if anyone is planning anything for Edmonton at this time.

The goal of this workshop is to equip participants with decision-making reflections and frameworks that help them guide their groups towards establishing a group structure that lines up with their purpose and Theory of Change.
In this workshop, we cover the inherent tensions between most grassroots groups’ rejection of hierarchy and the need for a functional and visible decision-making flow that keeps things moving and helps avoid group burnout.”

This year, we want our gathering to be more meaningful and to create a way forward to build safe and brave futures for trans people to live freely and protected without fear of being unlived, disowned, or violent. It’s evidence that the authoritative state is, and might use the notwithstanding clause to continue violating the rights of trans youth, just like the attack on the Alberta teachers’ freedom of expression.
Join us in remembrance and resistance. We gather to honor trans lives lost, grieve, uplift trans futures, and celebrate the power of community.”
Time: 5 – 7pm
Location: EVO, 11508 Jasper Avenue
Registration: Eventbrite

November 21st – 23rd – Democracry Under Siege (2025 Parkland Conference): “We are living through extraordinary times — times that would have seemed unthinkable just a few years ago. Around the world, autocracy is on the rise. The new U.S. regime threatens the sovereignty of these lands currently called Canada. Here at home, misinformation and corruption have taken hold in Alberta’s government. The pillars of liberal democracy are crumbling under the strain of growing authoritarianism.
This year’s Parkland Institute conference confronts these urgent threats head-on. We’ll take a hard look at the political institutions meant to act as guardrails against autocracy and ask how well they are faring in this role. More importantly, we’ll start a conversation about how we can strengthen those institutions, defend our struggling democracy, repel the current threat, and create a future that is built on the foundations of equality, justice, and solidarity.”

November 25, Tuesday – International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

November 25th, Tuesday – Webinar: Pensions, Climate Risk and the Law: The Legal Case Against the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board: “Join us for a conversation with Ecojustice, Canada’s largest environmental law charity that’s taken on the case, and two of the young Canadians taking CPPIB to court. They’ll explore how this legal action could reshape pension fund responsibilities in the era of climate crisis – and share why they’ve taken up this fight for retirement security in a safe climate future.
The lawsuit alleges that CPPIB is breaching its fiduciary duty by investing billions in fossil fuel companies without adequately addressing the systemic risks climate change poses to the Canada Pension Plan. The applicants are asking the court to affirm that the fund must act in the best long-term interests of all Canadians by managing climate risks responsibly.
This case is more than a legal milestone – it’s a turning point in how we think about our pensions, our future and our shared responsibility to protect both.”

We are failing our descendants.

One response to “Activist Agenda November 13th, 2025”

  1. Michael, actually you are thinking about the memorial service held at Homeless Memorial Plaza in June. For National Housing Day ECOHH has done a variety of things over the years but this year is doing a rally at the Legislature, just as was done last year for the date. I am not working with ECOHH anymore these days, trying to be retired, but here is the poster for it.
