Videos of the Week

It is getting kind of scary at the moment.

October 30th, Thursday – Student Walkout: In support of teachers and the school learning conditions are in the classrooms, students across Alberta will be participating in a varierty of non-compliance actions (walkouts, sit-ins, etc).
There is a group of students heading to the legislature for 10 am.
Support them if you can. It is all to support the teachers, unions, citizen’s rights, the overreaching of our governments, etc.
Respect!
NOTE: there are events happening across Edmonton and the rest of the province. I am only posting the graphic for the central Edmonton one.

October 30th, Thursday – ADAP is a deadly, ableist plan: “We won’t be quiet
On Thursday, Oct 30 • 12–2 pm • Alberta Legislature (Edmonton) we’re gathering to say no to forced transfers off AISH and no to deeper poverty. This rally is organised by the People’s Alliance for Disabled Albertans (PADA)—disabled people, families, and allies
Why we’re showing up:
Gov’t plan would move most people on AISH to ADAP with a $200 lower base rate,
Reclassification without real choice = greater risk of poverty and harm.
We demand equitable access, income security, and dignity.”
Time: 12 to 2 pm
Location: Alberta Legislature, north plaza (I am seeking clarification on the precise location so that people don’t go the wrong place)

We will not stand by while the Alberta government strips workers in this province of their Charter rights. Teachers deserve better. Students deserve better. Workers deserve better. The teachers’ fight is ALL workers’ fight.”
Time: noon
Location, Main Quad, University of Alberta, North Campus (due north of 89th Avenue and 112th Street)

November 6th, Thursday – Sauerkraut Making Workshop – The Magic of Wild Fermentation: “Looking for an easy, low-cost way to boost gut health and reduce food waste? November 20th, Thursday – TRANS DAY OF REMEMBRANCE 2025: “Honoring lives, uplifting the future.
This year, we want our gathering to be more meaningful and to create a way forward to build safe and brave futures for trans people to live freely and protected without fear of being unlived, disowned, or violent. It’s evidence that the authoritative state is, and might use the notwithstanding clause to continue violating the rights of trans youth, just like the attack on the Alberta teachers’ freedom of expression.
Join us in remembrance and resistance. We gather to honor trans lives lost, grieve, uplift trans futures, and celebrate the power of community.”
Time: 5 – 7pm
Location: EVO, 11508 Jasper Avenue
Registration: Eventbrite
