People in Canada celebrate National Indigenous History Month every June and recognize National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21. These are great opportunities to acknowledge Indigenous Peoples, to learn about their histories, cultures and ways of life.

June 20th, Thursday – Honouring Indigenous Climate Leadership: A roundtable discussion showcasing Indigenous-led research and policy responding to climate change: “To amplify and centre Indigenous voices at the cutting-edge of climate research and policy, the Canadian Climate Institute, in partnership with the Centre for Indigenous Environmental Resources, will host a roundtable discussion on June 20 with the authors of three new case studies in our Indigenous Perspectives series. These case studies showcase the work of Indigenous researchers, Knowledge Holders, water protectors, and community members and will be published on our webpage on Monday June 17, 2024.”

Want to wrangle bikes, spin a spanner, lay down floor and much, much more? We could sure use your help moving from the south shop and preparing the annex space downtown! June 23rd, Sunday – Missing and Murdered Indigenous Men and Boys (MMIMB) Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives: It is not just Indigenous women and girls that have been grossly disproportionally murdered and gone missing in our society but also Indigenous men, boys, and two-spirit persons.
This is a crime against humanity and our stated ideals as a society. This is discrimination/racism.

June 23rd, Sunday – Global Vigil for Regan Russell: “Regan Russell, 65, was violently struck and killed by a pig transport truck in front of Sofina’s Fearmans slaughterhouse on Friday, June 19, 2020. She was at a Toronto Pig Save vigil with six other activists giving pigs water on one of the hottest days of the year. She regularly attended pig vigils and on this particular day, Regan was there to oppose Ontario’s “ag-gag” Bill 156, which had passed two days prior.”

We will begin with a national premiere of our new “Heat Pumps Save Lives” mini-documentary that looks back at the 2021 Heat Dome and showcases the story of a community that acted decisively in time to save lives.

This is the first attempt to #TaxTheRich for a long time.
We need a #WealthTax in Canada and close the legal loopholes that allows the wealthy to move their wealth offshore and hide it from paying taxes.
I think this is fair and how a democratic society works.
