May 31st, Friday – Ride with Pride: June is Pride Month.
On the last day of May we Ride with Pride.
We will start at Sir Winston Churchill Square at 5:30pm (that means we leave the square at 5:30pm). We will stop by the Pride Corner to show support, solidarity, and allyship.
No UCP MLAs are invited to participate in this event.
note: Edmonton Drag Festival will be on at the square so we will be respectful of their space. We will likely meet closer to city hall and north of the festival space.

June 1st, Saturday – Pride Street Festival: “Fruit Loop is excited to kick off Edmonton’s Pride month again to bring you some incredible 2SLGBTQ+ programming this June in support of our friends at Rainbow Refuge!!!
We’re partnering with our besties at the Grindstone Theatre June 1 for an ALL AGES, Free Of Charge, Pride kick-off of epic proportions. Pride activities will be returning to Old Strathcona in west Ritchie AKA the garage district as we host a series of outdoor live performances, drag shows, dancers, photo booths, community booths, workshops, food trucks, beer gardens and late night dance parties to kick off Pride month!!

June 1st and 2nd – EcoSolar Tour: “Eco-Solar Tour: This is a great way to explore technologies to do with efficiencies, solar, design, resource reduction, etc and meet the people living in these homes. It happens on June 1st and 2nd.

June 2nd, Sunday – Rafah is Burning: [Rafah is being burned]. “Edmonton, join us for the 34th week of demanding sanctions on Israel and a total, two-way arms embargo—enough Canadian complicity with genocide. This rally will be led by our powerful student movement!”

Location: Tipton Park, 10849 – 81st Avenue Parking is at a major premium in this area. No parking in the arena parking lot (except for vehicles transporting sound systems, signage and such).

June 2nd, Sunday – International Sex Worker’s Day: “Sex workers around the world continue to face a wide range of barriers to accessing justice, both as victims of crime and when charged with crimes. Since sex work is widely criminalised, most sex workers are denied access to the benefits and rights afforded to other workers under labour laws and face the risk of criminalisation, detention, deportation and legal sanction.”
Sex workers are discriminated against. They are disproportionally killed, beaten, abused, etc. They are quite often victims of human trafficking.
Get the crime out of sex work.
Sex work is real work.

June 2nd, Sunday – National Animal Rights Day: “For the first time ever, the biggest global grassroots animal rights organizations:
Animal Save Movement (/animalsavemovement), Anonymous for the Voiceless (/anonymousforthevoiceless), We The Free (/activism.wtf) and Our Planet. Theirs Too. (/OurPlanetTheirsToo) will be joining forces on National Animal Rights Day 2024, for THE BIGGEST ANIMAL RIGHTS COLLABOARTION EVER!”

June 4th, Tuesday – Walkout for Palestine, Congo and Sudan: Kudos to the students at Ross Sheppard High School for taking this action AND including Sudan and Congo.
This is a student action. If you want to show solidarity you can stand on the side of the group and cheer them on (heading west on 111th Avenue from the school) or if you drive along that section of 111th Avenue you can honk your horn in support.

June 5th, Wednesday – Code Red for Climate: “With wildfires once again dominating the headlines, the urgency of responding to climate disasters while tackling their root causes has never been clearer. 
Our webinar, featuring special guests Dr. Courtney Howard, Dr. Sehjal Bhargava, and Dr. Louise Comeau, will explore wildfires, heat impacts, policy solutions, and effective climate communications during this challenging time. The presentations will include work on extreme heat as part of the National Adaptation Strategy, a review of recent findings from Re.Climate on how to communicate climate change, and connecting the experiences and learnings from the Yellowknife wildfires.
Code Red for Climate is a special, summer-long initiative highlighting a health response to the climate crisis. This is a call to action, borrowing from the hospital emergency code that denotes fire and smoke. Now more than ever, we need policymakers to:
STOP fossil fuel disinformation,
DROP climate-warming emissions, and
ROLL out near-term solutions to save lives now.”

June 23rd, Sunday – Missing and Murdered Indigenous Men and Boys (MMIMB): It is not just Indigenous women and girls that have been grossly disproportionally murdered and gone missing in our society but also Indigenous men, boys, and two-spirit persons.
This is a crime against humanity and our stated ideals as a society. This is discrimination/racism.
